Your Paris Toolbox
With our toolbox, you'll always be prepared. We give you many tips to use before leaving for Paris or when there. To get in the mood, start with a film about Paris. There are thousands of films about Paris or made in the city. If you go to the Forum des images site, you can browse their collection of over 6,400 films. (Click on "collection".) Many of them are available on video or DVD in any good video store in the US. Paris's Forum des Images is also open to visitors in Paris. You can spend two hours watching any film of your choice. Theater Tickets

 

           

You can get theater tickets for a same day or evening show for half price at Le Kiosque Théâtre. There are two locations in Paris: Place de la Madeleine and the Parvis de la gare Montparnasse - at the foot of the Tour Montparnasse, in front of the train station. They are open from 12:30-8PM, Mon-Sat. On sunday, 12:30pm-4pm. The kiosks have seats for most shows playing in the city, even sometimes sold out ones.

SPECIAL SHUTTLES

Most cabs don't take handicapped visitors in their taxis. An association called Amhap (Association pour la Mobilité des Handicappés à Paris) offers a service with 24 specially equipped vans.

BICYCLE

You want to hop from the bus and ride a bike instead? Easy with Cyclobus, a service which you will find in several bus stations in the city. Each Cyclobus station has a park of 66 bicycles.

POST OFFICE / WEB CONNECTIONS

The French Post Office has created a new service called cyberposte.fr, by which you can access the Internet in over 1,000 post offices around the country. Here's how it works: you buy a "carte d'accès", a card that will hook you up to the Net.

For info, go to cyberposte.fr or laposte.fr. You also get a free email address consisting of your name (or whatever you want) @laposte.net. You can even set it up before leaving home.
