Antoine et Colette. François Truffaut . 1962. Truffaut's alter ego, Antoine Doinel, 15, falls in Love for the first time.

 

Les Favoris de la Lune.
Otar Iosseliani. 1984. A set of porcelain tableware and a painting change hands throughout the years. The film follows its fate and the lives of the families who own these objects through the years in Paris.

   


Entr'acte.
Réné Clair. 1924. A silent, beautiful dadaist movie shown with Eric Satie's music.

 


Paris Qui Dort.
René Clair. 1923. One morning, the caretaker of the Eiffel Tower wakes up to find out that Paris is at a standstill. People are motionless and cars stationary.

Henry-Georges Clouzot. 1941.
A police detective investigates several homicides in Paris.
     


An American in Paris.
1951. Vincente Minelli.
This masterpiece with Gene Kelly
received 8 Academy Awards.

 

Les Portes de la Nuit.

1946. Marcel Carné. A February night, in 1945, a factory worker falls
in love with "the world's most beautiful girl". The decor was
created by Trauner, one of the geniuses of film design,
with dialogues by Jacques Prévert.
     


Les Enfants du Paradis.
1945. Marcel Carné.
One the of Seventh Arts true masterpiece.



Hôtel du Nord.
1945. Marcel Carné.
Another Carné masterpiece with two of the greatest
actors of their time, Louis Jouvet and Arletty.

     


Le Crime de Monsieur Lange. 1935. Jean Renoir. The movie takes place in a printing shop in the Marais district. Full of idealism, it shows this colourfulneighborhood as it was 60 years ago.

 



Bob Le Flambeur.

1956. Jean-Pierre Melville. The director was rediscovered just a few years ago by American filmmakers namely Robert Altman. He blends the genre noir and a very minimalist esthetic. This movie takes place in Montmartre and Pigalle.
     


Zazie dans le MŽtro.
1960. Louis Malle. Zazie is a little girl visiting her uncle in Paris. Her dearest wish is to see the metro. Unfortunately, it is on strike. A touching comedy.

 


Les Cousins.
1958. Claude Chabrol. The first big success of the French Nouvelle Vague.
     



Un Monde Sans Pitié.

1989. Eric Rochant. One of the best films from the "new" New Wave. The story of two young people - one a drifter and the other one a brilliant woman - in love in a contemporary Paris.

 



Sous les Toits de Paris.
1930. René Clair.
The film takes us into the Paris depicted by Atget, the great 19th century photographer.
     




A Bout de Souffle (Breathless).
1959. Jean-Luc Godard. Godard's first film, with Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg, is the story of a young criminal on the run who wants to be loved by a young woman selling the New York Herald Tribune on the Champs Elysées.
 

 

Last Tango in Paris.
1972. Bernardo Bertolucci. One of Brando's great roles. His mad love for a young Parisian woman. The sex scenes caused a scandal when the film came out. They remain amongst the best ones in the history of cinema.
