Don McCullin

Probably the most celebrated and talented war photographer of the 20th century. But for McCullin, war is not a hobby but "a destructive business", as he calls it. His pictures say more about humankind than about death.

Market

Jean-Georges Vongerichten has just opened his 11th restaurant, but it's the 1st one in Paris. Jean-George started his carrer with one of the best chefs in France, Haeberlin, in Illhaeusern. He opened his first restaurant, Jojo, in 1991. His Market is financed in part by movie director Luc Besson. The food is a blend of world cuisines. Try his pizza with tuna and wasabi.

Nan Goldin

Last days of the great show the Pompidou center has dedicated to the American photographer who uses photography as a diary of her life. 300 prints, many of them never shown before + a video on the artist. Until December 10. Centre Pompidou. 01 44 78 12 33

 

 

Les Années Mao

This really unusual show is an exploration of the history of China from 1949, the end of Mao's Long March, through now. Fascinating.
