In her pocket: her tarot cards. Marie Lore is the fortune teller to an ever larger clientele. Her territory: the old Marais district, the Silicon Alley of France. She does not wait for people come to her. She goes to them on her wheels. She sits in a corner of the restaurants she like, unfolds her blue tablecloth and waits for people to sit in front of her. "Dozens of people will walk by me and not pay attention to me," she says. "Only one in five will stop."Her words are always the same: "Présentez-vous aux cartes." (introduce yourself to the cards) and the session starts. It can last 45 minutes but sometimes as much as three hours.

"People who come to see me are not in crisis. They are usually in a time of transition in their lives. The people who come to seeme are not the usual clients of fortune tellers. They will be the stars of the new economy 10 years from now," she predicts. Marie Lore Staudt became a tarot reader three years ago on Halloween.		"I had a dream: I was being interviewed on a television station about card reading," she says. "I have been interested in astrology, esoteric things ever since I was a little girl. I decided to go to a café and try my luck. If people came to me, that would be a sign." It worked. Now she is a star: the usually staid Galeries Lafayette has hired her to entertain her clients for three days. And she is now interviewed on television. Her dream has been fulfilled.
