Claude Challe is to DJ's what Michael Jordan is to basketball: a breed apart, a super star with no peers. When Jack N. has a party or when a Maharaja in India wants to marry his daughter, they call Challe. His minimum rate: $25,000 for one evening. But Challe's parties are unique. He spends his days and his nights looking for enchanting music. The man who likes to dress in mauve and to wear women's shoes because, he says, the leather is softer, has invented a new genre which is selling millions of copies. His Buddha Bar I and II, CDs which blend Eastern music, salsa, Bombay sound and crooners, have created a new genre and have been selling millions of copies on Challes' own label, Chall'Omusic. |

| In the 1980's, Challe owned the legendary Les Bains night spot, which he has now sold. In the late 1990's, the Tunisian born Challe, who lives in the Bastille neighborhood when he is not traveling around the world, created the Buddha Bar, near the Concorde, one of the cool spots of the Paris night. Challe is always listening to music. "I always listen to music in the metro, with my discman. This way, it looks like a film decor. Often there are musicians.
