Georges. The
Costes brothers, emperors of Paris' cool restaurant and bistro scene,
have scored big with this one. Their "Georges" (as in Georges
Pompidou), sits at the top of the musem of the same name. The view is
the most wonderful, poetic and extravagant from anywhere in the city.
The food is not haute cuisine but, as always with the Costes bros, the
quality is impeccable and the service idem: club sandwiches, fish, tomatoes-mozzarella.
Musée Jacquemard-André.
The residence of the 19th century
banker and his painter wife, both avid collectors, is a a sort of super
Frick collection. The museum is truly one of the most enchanting place
in Paris. The restaurant has a gigantic Tiepolo fresco on the ceiling
and huge Gobelins tapestries on the wall, representing the story of the
Greek hero of the War of Troy, Achilles. You will think you have been
transported to Florence. Great salads. At tea time, try the scones and
the hot Viennese chocolate.
